Middle School Showcase AWARD Certificates will be awarded for First, Second and Third place winners. ELIGIBILITY Anyone presently in the 6th-8th grade who resides in Sedgwick County or one of the contiguous counties (Reno, Butler, Sumner, Harvey, Kingman, or Cowley) is eligible to audition.
APPLICATION A fee of $10.00 should be paid via PayPal with your application. This fee will not be refunded if the contestant fails to audition. Once you complete the online application, the confirmation page will provide a link to PayPal. Click the link to send the $10.00 application fee to Tack Flute Foundation. In the "Add a Note" section, list the competition name and the last name of the applicant. For example, "Middle School Showcase - Smith." Thank you!
DEADLINE Applications must be received on or before 11:59pm CST on SATURDAY, APRIL 2, 2022.
REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENTS A. Length - approximately 2-5 minutes B. Repertoire - One work from the standard flute repertoire with piano accompaniment C. Memorization is encouraged but not required. D. Contestants must arrange for their own accompanist. E. One original copy of the music must be provided for the judges. No unauthorized copies of copyrighted material will be accepted.
Award for Excellence AWARD The winner of the AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE will be awarded the Betty Hensley First Place Certificate and a cash prize of $200.00. Second Place will receive a certificate and a cash prize of $100.00. Third Place will receive a certificate and a cash prize of $50.00. Certificates of honorable mention will be awarded at the judges’ discretion.

We will notify you via email of your performance time approximately one week prior to the competition. Should the number of applicants exceed the amount of audition times applications bearing the earliest submission time will have priority. Applications MUST include the accompanist's name in order to be eligible.
REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENTS (Requirements have changed – please read carefully!) A. Length - approximately 10 minutes B. Repertoire chosen by flutist – One work from the standard flute repertoire for flute and piano (no unaccompanied works). Multi-movement work need not include all movements. This piece must be performed with piano accompaniment. Memorization is encouraged but not required. C. Contestants must arrange for their own accompanist. D. Required Etude Repertoire: Etude in Bb Major by Kohler, found in the Selected Studies book published by Voxman – pages 20 (available for purchase at Senseney Music). Play straight through from beginning to the end; do not take the DC or play the Coda. Memorization is not required. (Photocopies will NOT be allowed.) E. One copy of the solo chosen by the flutist must be provided for the judges. No unauthorized copies of copyrighted material will be accepted. All music used by flutists, pianists, and judges must be original, and cannot be copied.
